TELEVISION
As a director with a multi-decade background in commercial and documentary editing, Ismail Salahuddin studied Film and Art History at the acclaimed Savannah College of Art and Design. Being an avid photographer and world traveler has enhanced Ismail’s ability to connect with people from all walks of life, expanding his sense of story and visual style. After recently directing two episodes (203 & 307) of “Southside” for HBO/Comedy-Central he seeks to continue working with innovative teams to create great content.
FILM
In addition to his recent work in television Ismail has written, produced, and directed short films; one of which is currently doing rounds in the festivals, “I Love Y’all” a heart-felt film about police brutality and its effects on African-American communities. “I love Y’all“ screened at Black Harvest International Film Festival, PAN African Film Festival, San Francisco Black Film Festival, and The Bronzelens festivals in 2021
Ismail is currently working on another short film called “Sleeping lightly”, a dramatic narrative, to be released in 2024.
TRAVEL PHOTOJOURNALISM
As a travel photographer, I have worked with a number of tourism boards around the world, including Dominica Tourism Authority and Japan National Tourism Organization. I have photographed a wide range of hotels, highlighting architecture, food and beverage, and cultural elements in these spaces. Additionally, I have worked with various airlines to highlight route activations and amenities onboard and in airport lounges through both still photography and video. Much of this work can be found in Vogue, Travel + Leisure, Essence, Conde Nast Traveler, and AFAR.
